Kōhō Genkun is recorded in the Rinzai-shū documentation as an abbot in the Ōtōkan line of Japanese Rinzai. The surviving record preserves his lineage placement; little distinctive doctrinal material from his teaching is preserved in the modern Rinzai-shū historiography^[1].
