Dates uncertain

Raphael Dokio Triet is a French Soto Zen teacher and dharma heir of Taisen Deshimaru who has played a significant role in maintaining and deepening the European Soto Zen tradition after Deshimaru's death in 1982. He received the dharma name Dokio and has dedicated himself to preserving the authenticity of Deshimaru's transmission while adapting the practice to serve the evolving needs of European practitioners.

Triet leads sesshin and teaches at dojos affiliated with the Deshimaru lineage, continuing the tradition of kusen (oral teaching during zazen) that Deshimaru brought from Japan. His teaching emphasizes the unity of zazen and daily life—the inseparability of practice on the cushion and practice in the world. As one of the senior teachers in the European Soto lineage, Triet has helped guide the tradition through the critical transition from the charismatic founding period under Deshimaru to a mature, self-sustaining practice community rooted in European soil.
