Rinzai

Sekko Soshin

1408 – 1486

Sekko Soshin was a Rinzai Zen master who served in the school's transmission lineage. He maintained the tradition's practices of koan study and intensive zazen, contributing to the Rinzai school's ongoing vitality.

Soshin's contribution to the Rinzai tradition lies in the faithful preservation of the practice across generations. The school's emphasis on the direct experience of awakening—not merely its theoretical understanding—requires teachers who can embody and transmit this experience with authenticity and precision.
