Xingyang Qingpou

Xingyang Qingpou was a Guiyang school master recorded in the transmission of the lamp literature. He maintained the school's teaching methods and contributed to its network of practice communities during its period of active transmission. His encounters with students reflect the Guiyang emphasis on the integration of the absolute and relative through symbolic and experiential means.

The Guiyang school's influence, though less visible than that of the Linji or Caodong schools in later centuries, permeated the broader Chan tradition through its insights into the nature of symbolic communication and the relationship between form and emptiness. Teachers like Xingyang preserved and transmitted these insights during the school's period of independent existence.
