Karyo Zuika

1790 – 1859

Karyō Zuika is recorded in the Myōshin-ji line documentation as a Rinzai abbot in the Ōtōkan stream, one of the many transmitting teachers between Kanzan and Hakuin. The surviving record preserves his lineage placement; little distinctive doctrinal material from his teaching survives in the modern Rinzai-shū historiography[1].
