Tankai Gensho (潭海玄昌)

Tankai Gensho

1811 – 1898

Tankai Genshō is recorded in the post-Hakuin Rinzai documentation as an abbot in the Inzan or Takujū sub-line of modern Rinzai Zen. The surviving record preserves his lineage placement; little distinctive doctrinal material from his teaching is preserved in the modern Rinzai-shū historiography^[1].
