Luzu Baoyun

Luzu Baoyun was a Caodong school master who taught at Luzu Temple. He is recorded in the transmission literature as a dharma heir who maintained the school's contemplative methods. His teaching continued the Caodong emphasis on the direct experience of awakened mind through the practice of silent, objectless sitting.

Baoyun's place in the Caodong lineage represents the tradition's broad geographical reach during the Song dynasty. Masters like Baoyun carried the teaching to communities throughout China, ensuring that the Caodong approach to practice remained available to practitioners who were drawn to its quieter, more contemplative style.
