When Daguang Juhui first came to Xuefeng, Xuefeng asked him, "Where have you come from?" Daguang said, "From the south." Xuefeng said, "What teaching is going on in the south?" Daguang made a gesture of spreading his hands. Xuefeng said, "That is what goes on here too." Daguang bowed. Xuefeng said, "What are you bowing for?" Daguang said, "I am thanking the teacher for the gracious teaching."
