Eishuku Monika Leibundgut is a Swiss Sōtō Zen nun in the Deshimaru lineage and the designated successor of Meihō Missen Michel Bovay at the Zen Dōjō Zürich. Bodhisattva-ordained in 1986 and ordained as a nun in 1988, she served as Bovay's assistant for more than two decades. After his serious illness in 2007 she took over leadership of the dōjō, supported by Bovay until his death in 2009. Her own dharma transmission follows the same pattern as her teacher's: Yūkō Okamoto Roshi of Teishōji invited her to perform the hossen-shiki at Teishōji in 2012 and conferred shihō in 2013, followed by zuise at Eihei-ji and Sōji-ji with the Zürich and Vienna sanghas in attendance. She continues to lead the Zen Dōjō Zürich (an AZI-affiliated dōjō originally founded by Deshimaru in 1975) and edited Bovay's posthumous memoir *Deshimaru — Histoires vécues avec un maître zen* (Le Relié, 2022)[1].
