Dates uncertain

Alonso Taikai Ufano is a Spanish Sōtō Zen monk and dharma heir of Roland Yuno Rech, godo of the Dōjō Zen de Sevilla[1][2]. He began zazen practice in 1977 at the Dōjō Zen de Sevilla — at the time one of the small group of original Spanish Deshimaru-line dōjōs — and went on to become its principal teacher after Deshimaru's death, leading retreats throughout Andalusia and the Basque Country for more than three decades[2][3].

In March 2016 Ufano received shihō from Roland Yuno Rech and was confirmed as a master of the Sōtō Zen tradition[1][2][3]. He continues to direct the Sevilla dōjō, frequently leads sesshin at the Bilbao and Pamplona dōjōs, and is a long-standing collaborator with Antonio Taishin Arana on the joint Spanish-language teaching circuit; together they have given conferences on Deshimaru and the Western reception of Zen Buddhism that are archived on the Zen Navarra channel[3].
