Dōsan

Dates uncertain

Emanuela Dōsan Losi is an Italian Sōtō Zen nun and the first woman to receive shihō from Roland Yuno Rech[1][2]. A geologist by training (laurea in scienze geologiche, Università degli Studi di Modena), she practiced and taught in applied environmental geology before turning fully to monastic life[2]. She was ordained a nun by Yuno Rech in 1994 and for ten years served as godo (responsible monk) of the Dojo Mokushō Torino, the historic Turin Deshimaru-line dōjō[2][3].

In 2012 Losi received shihō from Roland Yuno Rech at La Gendronnière and relocated her teaching activity to Carpi (province of Modena), where she has since led a regional dōjō and travelled widely to give teisho during AZI / ABZE sesshin across France, Germany, Spain, and Italy[1][2]. As one of the principal Italian-language teachers in the Rech network she has helped translate Yuno Rech's kusen for Italian audiences and contributes regularly to the editorial life of the European sangha[2][3].
