1960 – Unknown
Konrad Kōsan Maquestieau (b. 1960, Belgium) is a Belgian Sōtō Zen monk and dharma heir of Roland Yuno Rech[1][2]. He discovered zazen in 1990, received the bodhisattva precepts in 1992, and was ordained a monk in 1995 in the AZI lineage[2]. In winter 2010 he undertook the traditional Sōtōshū ango at Shōgo-ji in Kumamoto Prefecture, the temple set aside by the Sōtōshū for foreign monks completing the formal training period[2]. In civilian life he teaches audiovisual arts at the Kunsthumaniora secondary school in Antwerp[2].
In the summer of 2015 Maquestieau received shihō from Roland Yuno Rech at La Gendronnière and now serves as godo of the Shodo Dōjō in Halle, the principal Flemish-Brabant AZI-affiliated practice place[1][2][3]. He teaches regularly in Brussels, leads sesshin across the Low Countries and France, and produces the *Dharmatalks Kosan Maquestieau* podcast — Dutch- and French-language teisho on Dōgen and the Sandōkai that have made him one of the most accessible Rech-line teachers in northern Europe[2][3].
