Michel Jigen Fabra is a French Sōtō Zen monk, dharma heir of Roland Yuno Rech and a recognised oshō of the Sōtō school[1][2]. In August 2014 he received shihō from Yuno Rech at La Gendronnière, and immediately afterwards travelled to Japan for three months to undertake ango (the formal training period) and the zuise ceremony — the symbolic visit of homage to the patriarchs at the two head temples of the Sōtō school, Sōji-ji and Eihei-ji — required by the Sōtōshū to confirm a foreign-trained monk as oshō[1][2][3].
In 2016 Fabra founded the Dojo Zen Sōtō Poitiers, a residential community where he lives with monks and nuns and where regular zazen, kyosaku-led sesshin, and weekly teaching sessions form the rhythm of practice[2][3]. He continues to lead retreats throughout France and is one of the active second-generation AZI teachers anchoring the Deshimaru line in the Aquitaine and Poitou-Charentes regions[1][3].
