Dates uncertain

Claus Heiki Bockbreder is a German Sōtō Zen monk and physician, godo of Zendo Melle e.V. in Lower Saxony and a 2024 dharma heir of Roland Yuno Rech[1][2][3]. In civilian life he practices as a Facharzt für Allgemeinmedizin in Melle (49324) and has lectured at the University of Osnabrück's Institute for Islamic Theology on Buddhist medical ethics, an indication of the public profile he combines with his Zen teaching[3].

The AZI / ABZE registry records that Bockbreder received shihō from Roland Yuno Rech in 2024[1][2], formally placing the Melle and Osnabrück dōjōs in the Yuno Rech line and extending the German wing of the second-generation AZI sangha alongside Heinz-Jürgen Metzger in Solingen / Cologne and Eveline Kogen Pascual / Silvia Hoju Leyer in Aachen[1]. He continues to lead daily zazen at Zendo Melle and to teach in the wider Niedersachsen region[2][3].
