Shitou Xiqian stands 35 generations from Shakyamuni Buddha in the Qingyuan line line, receiving transmission from Qingyuan Xingsi (d. 740). The line above runs back through Dayi Daoxin, Daman Hongren, Dajian Huineng and their predecessors to Shakyamuni Buddha.
